Barley is a rich source of B vitamins, including niacin, thiamin and pyridoxine. It also contains beta-glucans, a type of fiber that scientists have linked to various health benefits. Beta-glucan polysaccharide, which has been shown to increase prolactin, the hormone responsible for lactation.
Research has shown that chicory is antibacterial, immune stimulating and antioxidant. Inulin in chicory root is a prebiotic. Prebiotics promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria while reducing other germs and bacteria in the gut.
